Job Title: Spanish as a Second Language (ESL) Instructor

Employment Type: Contract (Part-Time)

Location: In-Person Instruction

Schedule: Twice per week (days and times to be mutually agreed upon)

Position Summary

We are seeking a qualified and engaging Contracted Spanish as a Second Language (SSL) Instructor to deliver high-quality Spanish language instruction to adult learners. This role includes in-person instruction, with an emphasis on practical communication skills, cultural context, and workplace or everyday language use. The instructor will be responsible for curriculum development, lesson planning, and learner assessment to support varying levels of Spanish proficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver effective and engaging Spanish language instruction in-person formats, twice per week.

Design, adapt, and implement Spanish language curriculum and lesson plans aligned with learner goals and program objectives.

Assess learners' Spanish language proficiency and track progress over time.

Provide constructive feedback to support ongoing language development.

Incorporate real-world, conversational, and culturally relevant Spanish language applications.

Utilize a variety of teaching strategies, instructional materials, and technology to address diverse learning styles.

Maintain basic attendance, participation, and progress documentation as required.

Communicate professionally with program coordinators regarding learner outcomes, instructional needs, and program effectiveness.

Foster an inclusive, respectful, and supportive learning environment.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in education, Spanish, Linguistics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Demonstrated experience teaching Spanish as a Second Language to adult learners.

Experience with curriculum development and lesson planning.

Native or near-native fluency in Spanish and strong proficiency in Spanish.

Ability to teach effectively in-person settings.

Preferred Qualifications

Teaching certification or coursework in foreign language instruction (e.g., Spanish Education, Applied Linguistics).

Experience teaching English for the workplace, vocational settings, or professional communication.

Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse adult populations.

Contract Details

This is a contracted position; hours and contract duration are based on program needs.

Compensation is hourly and commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The instructor is responsible for all applicable taxes and insurance as required for independent contractors.

Physical & Technical Requirements

Ability to travel to in-person teaching locations as needed.

Ability to stand, present, and interact with learners during instructional sessions.
