Special Education Teacher in Schenectady, NY

Seeking experienced and passionate educators to support young learners in integrated and self-contained preschool classrooms. This contract opportunity focuses on students ages 35, providing an inclusive, engaging environment where children of all abilities can thrive. You will work from 8am-3pm, Monday through Friday, alongside a collaborative faculty dedicated to early childhood special education.

Qualifications:

• NYS Certification in Special Education or Students with Disabilities Birth to Grade 2 is required
• Candidates currently pursuing certification in Special Education BirthGrade 2 may be considered for a Substitute Special Education Teacher role
• Previous experience working with preschool-aged children in educational or developmental settings preferred
• Demonstrated ability to individualize instruction to meet diverse learning needs
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) aligned with student goals
• Deliver engaging, evidence-based instruction in both integrated and self-contained settings
• Collaborate with classroom staff, therapists, and families to monitor student progress and ensure consistency of support
• Adapt curriculum materials and teaching strategies to promote participation and positive outcomes for all learners
• Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with program and regulatory requirements
