POSITION SUMMARY
The Bordentown Regional School District invites applications for the anticipated position of Special Education Teacher at Bordentown Regional High School. The teacher provides targeted, individualized academic instruction and modifications/accommodations to students with disabilities. Operating across a continuum of service levels, this teacher collaborates closely with general education staff, the Child Study Team, and related service providers to deliver high-quality, IEP-driven instruction in an inclusion, resource room, or small-group setting. The teacher plays a central role in ensuring students access grade-level content while receiving the specialized instruction and accommodations they require under NJAC 6A:14.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Instructional Responsibilities
Provide direct, specialized instruction in an inclusion, resource room, or small-group setting aligned to each student's IEP goals
Deliver evidence-based interventions targeting reading, writing, mathematics, and executive functioning as applicable
Differentiate instruction to address a range of learning profiles, disabilities, and grade levels within the caseload
Co-teach or collaborate in the general education setting to support students with push-in services as designated by IEPs
Use data to drive instructional decisions and document student progress toward IEP goals on required timelines
Align instruction with New Jersey Student Learning Standards while maintaining individualized accommodations and modifications
IEP & Compliance Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs, including annual goals, present levels, accommodations, and transition components as applicable
Facilitate or participate in IEP meetings, annual reviews, and reevaluations in collaboration with the Child Study Team
Maintain accurate, timely progress notes, service logs, and documentation required by state and federal law
Communicate IEP accommodations and modifications to general education teachers and related service providers
Ensure FAPE is provided in the most appropriate and least restrictive environment
Collaborative Responsibilities
Partner with general education teachers on curriculum access, co-teaching models, and universal design for learning (UDL)
Coordinate with related service providers to integrate supports into daily instruction
Communicate proactively and professionally with families regarding student progress, IEP implementation, and concerns
Direct and support the work of assigned paraprofessionals and instructional aides
Participate in building-level MTSS/RTI teams and contribute to intervention planning for students at risk
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Thorough knowledge of IDEA, and NJAC 6A:14
Understanding of the New Jersey Student Learning Standards and curriculum across multiple grade bands
Experience with evidence-based interventions for students with learning disabilities, language-based disabilities, and other health impairments
Strong data collection, progress monitoring, and data analysis skills
Ability to manage a caseload and meet compliance timelines independently
Effective communication and collaboration skills with families, staff, and multidisciplinary teams
Commitment to inclusive practices and high expectations for all learners
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Math or English Certification (preferred not required)
Experience working with general education colleagues in an inclusion setting
Proficiency with IEP platforms (e.g., Genesis, IEP Direct)
Experience coordinating and supporting paraprofessional staff in a classroom setting
