Building Substitutes report to their school each day and cover teacher and para absences and other supervisory duties as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: BA/BS degree
Professional Certification: not required
Specialized Knowledge:
Child development
Understanding of and commitment to the principles and practices of diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice
Preferred Experience:
Experience with children in a structured environment
Experience with Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Classroom, etc.) and PowerSchool preferred, but will train the right candidate
Skills
Demonstrated aptitude for work to be performed
Bilingual skills, especially in Spanish and Portuguese, are highly desirable
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Candidates should have a passion for working with students, families, and colleagues
Candidates must be flexible and collaborative
Candidates must be able to multitask in a fast-paced, supportive environment that nurtures student growth
Candidates must be organized and able to meet ongoing, time-sensitive deadlines for work production

Phone, personal computer and software applications as outlined above, scanner, copy machine, calculator, camera, printers and fax machine.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB (not limited to)
Implement lesson plans and instructions as directed by the absent teacher, or consult with principal if lesson plan is not provided
Maintain a clean, respectful, and orderly classroom, and follow classroom and school procedures as directed by the school
Leave notes or complete a report for the regular teacher at the end of the teaching day
Communicate in a collegial and positive manner towards parents, students, and administrators
Keep records on attendance, accidents and incidents
Protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
Ensure the safety of students at all times
Supervise students inside and outside of the classroom
Any other relative duties as assigned.

communicate with others so that information received and given is understood and accurately communicated;
communicate and collaborate effectively with students, parents, and other staff members in person, via video conference, on the telephone, and/or in writing;
observe details at close range

multitask and meet multiple demands from several people;
may need to teach and support students with life skills development such as eating, cleaning, and toileting
lifting up to and including 25 lbs
