Teaching Assistant (Grades K8)Were looking for caring, collaborative Teaching Assistants to join our creative team of educators at Hilltown Cooperative Charter Public School. This part-time role is perfect for someone who enjoys working with children, values community and the arts, and brings a thoughtful, student-centered approach to supporting learning and classroom life.As a Teaching Assistant, youll work closely with classroom teachers and students to help build safe, respectful, and engaging classroom environments. Youll support students one-on-one, in small groups, and sometimes lead the full class when needed. This is a meaningful opportunity to contribute to a dynamic K8 school community committed to equity, inclusion, and joyful learning.Schedule:35-40 hours per week. Positions may include recess, lunch, or after-school coverage.Minimum Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalentSuccessful completion of a CORI/background checkPreferred Qualifications:1+ years of experience working with children or youthAssociates or Bachelors degreeInterest in or experience with inclusive educationWhat Youll Do:In the Classroom:Support the classroom teacher in creating a safe, nurturing, and respectful learning environmentWork individually or in small groups with students during lessons or activitiesSupervise the full class when the teacher is temporarily unavailable (lesson plans provided)Offer observational feedback about student behavior and engagementAttend regular planning meetings and staff professional development sessionsSpecial Education Support & Individualized ServicesProvide daily services to assigned students as outlined in their IEPsImplement accommodations, modifications, and visual supports as directed by the SPED teamFollow and support Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), including implementing strategies for reinforcement, de-escalation, and skill-buildingCollect ongoing data on student progress, behaviors, and interventions; submit documentation according to school proceduresCollaborate with special educators, related service providers, and the classroom teacher to adjust supports as neededClassroom Support:Help prepare and organize materials before and after lessonsAssist with classroom clerical work, such as correcting and tracking student assignmentsSupport the creation of student displays and classroom visualsSchool-Wide Responsibilities:Supervise students during lunch, recess, or other unstructured times as assignedContribute to after-school programs when neededSupport the overall school community and help create a positive, inclusive climateMaintain student confidentiality and follow all staff policiesSupervision & Evaluation:Report to the supervising teacher and the Director of Teaching and Learning and/or the Director of Student SupportMeet for a performance check-in by the end of NovemberParticipate in a formal performance evaluation in the springWhat We Value:Were a K8 charter school grounded in arts integration, mixed-age classrooms, and hands-on learning.
