Description
Assistant Teacher/Assistant Group Supervisor
To provide a warm, nurturing, safe and loving environment where self concepts are enhanced, independence encouraged and individuality respected.
Key Responsibilities
To offer a program that meets the emotional, physical, intellectual and social needs of both the individual ant the group
Follow the Policy and procedure manual
Assists Lead Teacher in daily activities
To interact with the children and to encourage their involvement in activities
To prepare a warm and safe environment that is orderly, clean and appealing and permits the child to grow and to explore
To plan with other teachers weekly lesson plans based on a curriculum outline
To establish and maintain good communications with parents though parent conferences twice a year and on a daily informal basis
To observe record and report significant individual and group behavior
To use appropriate and positive discipline
To attend monthly staff meetings
Maintain confidentiality
Report any suspect abuse to director
Keep all appropriate records such as daily progress sheets, attendance and time sheets
Maintain meal count sheets for food program
Provide assessments of the children meeting Keystone STARS and PreK Counts requirements.
Follow Keystone STARS and PreK counts requirements for lessons, daily activities, and program implementation.
Assist in daily cleanliness of facility
Follow Directives from Lead Teacher and Director
Limits of Authority
Must discuss decisions and have agreement of the board of directors, director, and group supervisor.
Requirements
Level V or higher on the career lattice or have CDA
Ability to relate joyfully and sensitively to children
Active health assessment (every two years)
Evidence of emotional maturity and stability
Evidence of sufficient security and judgment to handle crisis situations and to use supervision constructively
Physical stamina
Ability to recognize and to record significant individual and group behavior
Ability to supervise aides and other personnel
Must meet Keystone STARS 4, PreK counts, and DPW staff qualifications and requirements (PA PreK Counts Guidance)
