Davies is now hiring a Special Education Teacher for School Year 2026-2027!

*This is a grant funded opportunity

Qualifications:

RI Teacher Certification: Special Education Secondary Level

Three years of successful teaching experience at the secondary level is preferred

Demonstrated experience working effectively with students, parents, and staff

Knowledge of High School reform, Secondary Graduation requirements and current educational practices

Such alternatives to the above qualifications may be appropriate and acceptable

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide classroom instruction to IEP students that bridges their access to the general education curriculum.

Be a collaborative partner in a co-taught classroom model with general education teachers to plan, instruct, and share classroom duties for all students in co-taught classes

Promote the establishment of a productive environment for students to facilitate diversity, awareness and sensitivity

Maintain student records-grades, attendance and perform measures that assess and improve student learning

Use evaluation and RTI data to develop individual learning goals for each student

Collaborate with academic departments in addition to the student support department to ensure students are accessing all curriculum needs

Manage a caseload of students with IEPs by ensuring proper placement, coordinating and distributing information about goals, aids and accommodating identified in IEPs

Take a lead role in facilitating IEP meetings for students on the caseload

Initiate necessary documents for IEP meeting scheduling and write comprehensive IEPs for students identified through IDEA based on collected data

Provide guidance and support to technical teachers to meet the needs of individuals students according to their IEP

Complete timely quarterly reporting communication on IEP goal progress

Provide information on achievement and behavior to the IEP Team and parents on an ongoing basis
