26-27 Secondary English Teacher

Position Overview:

As part of our charter's instructional team, you'll have the autonomy to design engaging curriculum within our framework of high standards. You'll create a classroom that embodies our charter's commitment to prepare our champions for leadership positions in the aerospace and aviation industries through a rigorous, authentic, industry-aligned aerospace and defense education.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver standards-aligned instruction in literature, composition, and language arts

• Design units incorporating classic and contemporary texts from diverse voices

• Implement research-based writing instruction across multiple genres

• Utilize formative and summative assessments to drive instruction

• Foster analytical thinking through Socratic seminars and literary discussions

• Maintain an inclusive classroom that values all learners

• Participate in professional learning communities and school initiatives

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in English, Secondary Education, or related field (Master's preferred)

• Valid Alabama Professional Educator Certificate with English Language Arts (6-12) endorsement preferred, but not required

• Understanding of and commitment to the charter school model

• Ability to thrive in an environment of autonomy paired with accountability

• Experience with or willingness to learn charter-specific:

• Curriculum frameworks

• Assessment systems

• Reporting requirement
