Mathematics Teacher (Grades 9-12)
Location:Rutland High School
Reports To: Principal
Union/Pay Scale:REA-Teacher
Work Year:187-day schedule
Position-Specific Expectations
In addition to the core responsibilities of the Teacher role, the Math Teacher delivers instruction aligned to the Common Core State Standards and supports students in developing strong mathematical understanding and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities (Math-Specific)
Plan and deliver standards-aligned math instruction, including integrated math coursework as needed
Develop students' conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and application of mathematical practices
Use data and formative assessment to identify gaps and adjust instruction accordingly
Incorporate technology and STEM-aligned practices to enhance student learning
Support students in building confidence and persistence in mathematical thinking
Collaborate with colleagues to ensure vertical and horizontal alignment of math instruction
Knowledge/Skills
Strong background in mathematics content
Effective communication and organizational skills
Experience teaching a range of math courses, including integrated math
Commitment to collaboration and continuous professional growth
Experience with technology integration in math instruction
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field, required. Master's degree, preferred.
Valid Vermont 7-12 Teaching License (or ability to obtain), required with endorsement in Mathematics.
Physical Requirements
Work is performed primarily in a school office environment and requires extended periods of sitting, computer use, and operation of standard office equipment. The position may require standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting materials weighing up to approximately 25 pounds. This position requires the ability to move throughout school buildings and district facilities. Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.
