    Qualifications:

    • As needed
    • Daily assignments are arranged through the Frontline platform, or principal/principal designee.
    • Substitute employee (non-contracted)
    • Participates in Kentucky Teachers Retirement System (KTRS)

    Job Goals:

    To enable each child to pursue their education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of the regular teacher.

    Professional responsibilities:

    • General Job Responsibilities:

      • Instructional substitutes must work a minimum of 10 school days per school year.

      • Instructional substitutes who do meet the minimum number of work days by the end of the school year will be removed from the substitute list.

      • Instructional substitutes excluded by 3 or more schools district-wide due to performance or other issues will be removed from the substitute list.

      • If approved as a substitute teacher, you will be required to complete all state and Board mandated trainings.

    • Specific Job Responsibilities

      • Report to the principal or school secretary upon arrival, 15 minutes before the official school opening.

      • Assure compliance with federal, state and district policy, administrative procedures and all other procedures/policies applicable to assignment.

      • Provide effective continuation of instruction based on lessons outlined and described in the provided lesson plans.

      • Checks and records students attendance.

      • Prioritize, plan and organize work to meet schedules and timelines.

      • Communicate effectively with tact and patience, both orally and in writing, the assignments and provide assistance to students.

      • Assumes responsibility for overseeing pupil behavior in class, during lunch and recess periods.

      • Follow proper reporting procedures for all matters including but not limited to behavioral issues, bullying, suspected child abuse or neglect, etc.

      • Must use sound judgment and reasoning to adapt as necessary in the absence of the regular teacher and seek guidance from an administrator when appropriate.

      • Follow all safety and emergency procedures established by the district and/or school.

      • Works directly with teachers and assistants with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies and play periods.

      • Checks and records students attendance.

      • Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of the regular teacher

      • Supervision of students using proper classroom management techniques

      • Maintain the cleanliness of the classroom.

      • Perform other duties consistent with the position assigned as may be requested by the Principal.

      • Report the day's activities at the conclusion of each teaching day via the Frontline platform or email to the teacher.

      • Alerts the regular teacher to any problem or special information about an individual student.

      • Monitor and report school safety conditions to the building principal.

      • Protect confidential information of students and fellow staff members.

      • Maintains as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which assigned..

      • Perform other duties consistent with the position assigned as may be requested by the supervisor
