A Music Teacher in secondary education is responsible for teaching students about different aspects of music such as music theory, history, and technique. They plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities, create engaging learning environments, and conduct assessments to evaluate student abilities and progress. Furthermore, they may also direct school choirs, orchestras or bands, and organize performances or recitals to provide practical experience for students. They also play a key role in nurturing students' music talents and interest, as well as developing their creativity, critical thinking, and appreciation of the cultural and historical significance of music.

Essential skills for a Music Teacher include excellent communication and interpersonal skills, patience, creativity, and a deep understanding of music in various forms. They must also have the ability to play one or more musical instruments and read musical scores.
