Language Arts Teacher Jobs in Mississippi

A Language Arts Teacher in secondary education is responsible for the instruction of English Literature, Reading, Writing, and other language-related topics to students from Grade 6 to 12. Their duties include preparing lesson plans, conducting classes, providing one-on-one guidance to students, grading assignments, and tests, as well as collaborating with other educators to integrate cross-curricular instruction. They are also tasked with fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment that nurtures students' language development skills, encouraging critical thinking, creativity, and promoting cultural appreciation through literature.

They should be adept at classroom management and able to accommodate diverse learning styles. Relevant certifications can include a Bachelor's degree in English or a related field, a teaching credential, and in many states, a Master's degree in Education is often preferred or required. Prior to becoming a Language Arts Teacher, a person may hold roles such as a Teacher's Assistant, a Tutor, or an English Literature Instructor at a smaller scale like a tuition center.
