Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Special Education or an alternative certification program.
  • Indiana Educator's License in Special Education (mild) at the secondary level, or the ability to obtain by August 11, 2025.
  • Passionate about supporting all students.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Experience teaching/student teaching at the junior/senior high school level preferred.

Duties:

  • Serve as the Teacher of Record for students with diverse learning needs.
  • Develop and implement IEPs in collaboration with families, support staff, and general education teachers.
  • Provide direct instruction and support in academic and functional skills tailored to individual student needs.
  • Modify and adapt curriculum to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
  • Utilize data-driven instructional strategies to track student progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports student engagement and growth.
  • Collaborate with paraprofessionals, therapists, and other support staff to provide comprehensive services.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and support strategies.
  • Maintain compliance with state and federal special education laws and school policies.
  • Plan and provide services and support for eligible students as outlined in each student's IEP, including individualized

and small group instruction to adapt curriculum to the needs of each student.

  • Modify instructional resources as necessary to meet the needs of students according to their IEP.
  • Utilize appropriate student behavior management skills to maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Conduct case conferences, compose student goals, and monitor student progress.
  • Provide support for general education teachers for students receiving academic support services.
  • Demonstrate interpersonal skills and work collaboratively with school staff and students.
  • Adhere to all corporation policies for staff including attendance, professionalism, and fulfillment of assigned

responsibilities.

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
