Title: Guest Teacher (Grant Funded)
POSITION SUMMARY :
To enable each student success in the basic academics; serving as the education professional in lieu of a teacher.
This position reports to the principal.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or GED, BA Degree
- Ability to obtain a Substitute Teaching certificate or an Emergency Substitute Certificate issued by Arizona Department of Education.
- IVP fingerprint clearance card
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Follow lesson plans provided by the assigned teacher, for the purpose of creating a consistent and cohesive learning experience for students.
- Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, for the purpose of minimizing distractions and maintaining a positive learning environment.
- Administer tests for the purpose of evaluating student progress.
- Supervise students in and out of the classroom, including in the halls, out in common areas, and in the cafeteria, for the purpose of ensuring student safety.
- Create classroom activities, assignments and/or materials, based on provided lesson plans, for the purpose of providing an opportunity for all students to participate in classroom activities.
- Instructs students (whole group, small groups, or individuals) for the purpose of implementing objectives and ensuring students’ success.
- Provides documentation of students’ work for the purpose of providing written notes and/or completing written work that is required in a regular classroom curriculum.
- Responds to emergency situations (e.g., injured students, fights, etc.) for the purpose of resuming immediate safety concern and/or directing appropriate personnel for resolution.
- Follows all policies, rules, and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Skills are required to perform single, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include adhering to safety practiced; operating standard office equipment including computers and pertinent software applications; preparing and maintaining accurate records.
Knowledge is required to perform basic math, including calculations fraction, percents, and/or ratios; understand written procedures, write routine documents, and speak clearly; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the function of the job.
Responsibility to work independently under broad organizational guidelines to achieve unit objectives; directing other persons within small work unit; operating within a defined budget. Utilization of resources from other work units is often required to perform the job’s functions. There is some opportunity to significantly impact the organization’s services.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and talk or
hear and sometimes walk and sit. The employee must use hands, arms and fingers to input
data, handle, feel, or reach. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may
occasionally push or lift up to 20 lbs. such as boxes, supplies, etc. Specific vision abilities
required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the
ability to adjust focus, close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth
