POSITION OVERVIEW
Morehouse Parish School District is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable High School Agriculture Science Teacher to support college, career, and workforce readiness at Bastrop High School, a Title I campus committed to equity and student success. The ideal candidate will deliver standards-aligned Career and Technical Education (CTE) instruction in agricultural sciences, fostering student understanding of agriculture systems, environmental science, agribusiness, and sustainable practices while preparing students for postsecondary education and careers in agriculture and related industries.

Employment Type : Full-Time 12-Month Contract
Salary : In accordance with the MPSD Teacher Pay Scale and applicable state guidelines

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver standards-aligned instruction aligned to Louisiana CTE and Agriculture Science standards
- Teach courses in agriculture science, environmental systems, plant science, animal science, and agribusiness
- Develop students’ technical knowledge and workforce readiness skills aligned to agricultural career pathways
- Provide hands-on, project-based learning experiences such as labs, greenhouse activities, and field-based learning
- Integrate scientific principles, sustainability practices, and environmental stewardship into instruction
- Supervise and support student agricultural experiences (SAEs)
- Support and sponsor FFA or similar student leadership organizations, if applicable
- Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learner needs
- Maintain a safe and structured learning environment aligned with PBIS expectations
- Ensure proper use of tools and equipment
- Collaborate through Professional Learning Communities (PLCs)
- Ensure compliance with FERPA, IDEA, Section 504
- Engage families and community partners
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
- Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate in Agriculture Education or eligibility through an LDOE-approved pathway
- Knowledge of Louisiana CTE and Agriculture curriculum standards
- Strong instructional planning and classroom management skills
- Knowledge of agricultural systems and safety procedures
- Understanding of workforce readiness and career pathways
- Knowledge of FERPA, IDEA, Section 504
- Proficiency with instructional technology
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Commitment to student success and equity
- Documentation required if enrolled in Teacher Preparation Program
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in Agriculture Education or related field
- 1–3 years teaching or industry experience
- Experience in Title I or diverse settings
- Knowledge of Jump Start pathways and Industry-Based Credentials
- Experience with FFA programming
- Experience managing agricultural facilities such as greenhouses or land labs
- Experience with project-based learning or work-based learning opportunities
- Participation in PLCs or collaborative teams
