High School History Teacher/Girls Coach

Primary Purpose

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic area of history/social studies designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. In addition, serve as a girls athletic coach responsible for developing student-athletes through instruction, leadership, and supervision while promoting academic success, character development, and sportsmanship.

Education/Certification
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with appropriate Social Studies certification preferred
  • Valid Texas coaching certifications and required UIL compliance training
  • CDL or willingness to obtain CDL preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills
  • Knowledge of Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS)
  • Knowledge of UIL rules and regulations
  • Strong classroom management skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to motivate students academically and athletically
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, parents, and community members
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
Instructional Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with TEKS and district curriculum.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and student success.
  • Use data-driven instructional practices to improve student achievement.
  • Assess student performance regularly and maintain accurate records.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Maintain professional relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Participate in curriculum development and instructional improvement efforts.
  • Attend faculty meetings, professional development, and district trainings.
Coaching Responsibilities
  • Assist in planning, organizing, and conducting girls athletic programs as assigned.
  • Teach sport-specific skills, strategies, conditioning, and sportsmanship.
  • Supervise student-athletes during practices, competitions, travel, and related activities.
  • Promote academic achievement and monitor athlete eligibility.
  • Ensure compliance with UIL, district, and athletic department policies.
  • Assist with equipment inventory, maintenance, and facilities management.
  • Foster positive relationships with athletes, parents, officials, and community members.
  • Support and participate in offseason strength and conditioning programs.
  • Assist with game management and other athletic department duties as assigned.
Student Management
  • Establish and enforce standards of student behavior in both classroom and athletic settings.
  • Maintain a safe and orderly learning and practice environment.
  • Encourage student responsibility, leadership, and character development.
Professional Responsibilities
  • Model professionalism and ethical conduct.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student information.
  • Support district goals, campus initiatives, and extracurricular activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the principal and athletic director.
Working Conditions
  • Frequent standing, walking, and physical activity.
  • Ability to lift and move athletic equipment.
  • Work may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnight travel for athletic events.
  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions during practices and competitions.
