ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE:The Recovery Program Teacher is an energetic and flexible employee who is eager to work in our therapeutic day school with a high needs population. This position is accountable for assuming the responsibility of providing a rigorous and individualized instructional experience through creativity, resourcefulness and sound judgment consistent with the rules and regulations of the Central Massachusetts Collaborative. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Plan, develop, and implement differentiated instructional experiences through creativity and resourcefulness which lends to the educational growth and development of targeted student population. 2. Develop effective classroom presentation, techniques, and review, correct, and reinforce instructional lessons to enhance the learning and retention process. 3. Develop effective techniques for academic assessment and management of discipline and behavior reinforcement. 4. Align instruction with MA Curriculum Frameworks. 5. Assist students in building academic, social, and self regulatory skills. 6. Create a structured, therapeutic, safe environment for all students.7. Develop and implement behavior intervention plans for the class and individual students. 8. Address and handle students with behavioral issues. 9. Prepare students for MCAS test and MCAS alt. 10. Supervise students within school and transport and supervise students in community settings.11. Able to exercise universal precautions and tolerate management of body fluids, if needed. 12. Conduct assessments, write reports and participate in team processes. 13. Write and implement IEPs and progress reports. 14. Collaborate with other teachers, clinical staff, administrators and support service providers to address instructional, behavioral and recovery related issues.15. Maintain data and all required documentation. 16. Supervises para-professionals. 17. Complete CPI/nonviolent crisis intervention training upon hire and maintain CPI/nonviolent crisis intervention certification.18. Demonstrate sound judgments and decisions aligned with school regulations and philosophy and promote a positive school climate that fosters high student expectations and employs appropriate strategies that address multiple learning styles for all students.19. Demonstrate good communication skills and the ability to deal with people in a professional manner in all situations.20. Able to reach, grasp and handle objects using upper extremities and able to lift and carry objects and/or classroom equipment, up to 45 pounds. 21. Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the director.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:1. Appropriate MA Teachers Certification.2. Advanced educational preparation in the discipline or area of certification. 3. A minimum of 2 years of full-time teaching experience with high risk youth.4. Driving license and clean driving record.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Experience working with adolescents in alternative, therapeutic, or high-support settingFamiliarity with the 12-step model of recovery.Experience with trauma-informed care.Familiarity with substance use recovery, harm reduction, and adolescent mental health.
