Michael R. Null Middle School
Primary Purpose:
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area of mathematics integrated with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) concepts designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society while fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and innovation.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate in Math 48 or Core Subjects 48 with Math component
- ESL certification preferred or willingness to obtain within one year
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for middle school mathematics
- Understanding of STEM instructional practices and project-based learning
- Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse student populations
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Ability to integrate technology into daily instruction
- Knowledge of data-driven instruction and intervention strategies
- Effective communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Strategies
- Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with district curriculum and TEKS.
- Create engaging STEM-based learning experiences that connect mathematics to real-world applications.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies, technology tools, and hands-on activities to support student learning.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including special populations.
- Use assessment data to guide instruction and provide targeted interventions.
- Promote critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
- Incorporate engineering design processes and inquiry-based learning opportunities when appropriate.
Classroom Management and Organization
- Establish and maintain a positive, safe, and structured classroom environment.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with district expectations and campus procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress.
- Ensure classroom technology, materials, and STEM resources are properly maintained and utilized.
Communication
- Maintain open communication with parents, students, and campus staff regarding student progress and performance.
- Participate in parent conferences, ARD meetings, and campus events as required.
- Collaborate with teachers, instructional coaches, and administrators to improve instructional practices and student outcomes.
Professional Growth and Campus Responsibilities
- Participate in professional development related to math instruction, STEM integration, and district initiatives.
- Attend faculty meetings, committee meetings, and required district trainings.
- Support campus and district goals aligned to academic achievement and student growth.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the campus principal or district administration.
Working Conditions:
- Ability to maintain emotional control under stress
- Frequent standing, walking, and lifting of instructional materials
- Classroom setting with occasional after-school or evening duties
*Salary is commensurate with experience
*Minimum Salary $66,000 for fully certified teachers
* Please note that this role requires in-person attendance and is not eligible for remote work.
