Position Overview

Swampscott High School is seeking a dynamic, knowledgeable, and engaging 0.4 FTE Business Teacher to join our faculty for the 2026–2027 school year. In this part-time role, your primary function will be to deliver high-quality, standards-aligned instruction that equips students with the basic elements of business across multiple career paths.

Primary Responsibilities Instructional Leadership & Business Curriculum
  • Core Instruction: Deliver engaging instruction on a comprehensive range of business topics, including accounting, finance, human resources, marketing, entrepreneurship, business law, management, and day-to-day business operations.
  • Practical Life Skills: Teach critical real-world competencies such as career exploration, personal finance, communications skills, collaboration, and project management.
  • Project-Based Learning: Design innovative, real-world projects and case studies to enhance lectures, challenge students' critical thinking, and deepen their understanding of business principles.
  • Targeted Interventions: Maintain a passion for working with high school students, actively providing the individualized academic interventions needed to ensure every learner succeeds.
  • Industry Connections: Stay abreast of current trends, technological shifts, and emerging topics in local and global business sectors to keep course content relevant.
Collaboration & School Engagement
    • Collaborative Philosophy: Implement a teaching philosophy rooted in teamwork, working closely with department colleagues to align curriculum and share pedagogical strategies.
    • Community Connection: Demonstrate a strong willingness to engage in the broader school community, supporting school events and fostering a positive school culture.
    • Stakeholder Communication: Maintain excellent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with students, colleagues, administrators, and families.
  • Innovation Career Pathways: Work with the department and career counselor to ensure that curriculum and lessons align with our career pathway program
Professional Reliability
  • Consistent Attendance: Maintain strict punctuality and consistent attendance for all scheduled classes and departmental commitments to ensure instructional continuity.
Job Requirements
  • Licensure: Valid and appropriate Massachusetts DESE Educator License in Business (9–12) or related instructional field.
  • Education: Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Language Skills: Multilingual educators bring a highly desired asset for this position, though not a requirement.
  • Compliance: Required criminal history background check (CORI/Fingerprinting) and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
