JOB DESCRIPTION
Mathematics Teacher
Location: Van Junior/Senior High School
Employment Term: 200-Day Contract
Salary: Based upon the Boone County Schools Teacher Salary Schedule, including applicable experience and degree classifications, and in accordance with West Virginia State Code.
Reports To: School Principal
Qualifications
- Holds or is eligible to obtain a valid West Virginia Teaching Certificate with appropriate Mathematics endorsement(s) for Grades 5-12.
- Demonstrates knowledge of West Virginia College- and Career-Readiness Standards for Mathematics.
- Possesses strong instructional, communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
- Demonstrates the ability to establish positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and community stakeholders.
- Meets all Boone County Schools employment requirements, including successful completion of background checks and required trainings.

To provide high-quality mathematics instruction that promotes student achievement, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and college and career readiness while maintaining a safe, engaging, and supportive learning environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver effective mathematics instruction aligned with West Virginia content standards and Boone County Schools curriculum requirements.
- Develop and implement lesson plans that accommodate diverse learning styles, abilities, and student needs.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, technology resources, and assessment methods to enhance student learning.
- Establish and maintain a positive classroom environment that promotes student engagement, responsibility, and respect.
- Assess student progress on a regular basis and maintain accurate academic records.
- Analyze student performance data to guide instructional decisions and interventions.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, administrators, and staff regarding student progress and school-related matters.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development activities, curriculum planning, and school improvement initiatives.
- Maintain compliance with all Boone County Board of Education policies, West Virginia Board of Education policies, and applicable state and federal regulations.
- Collaborate with colleagues to support student achievement and school goals.
- Provide appropriate supervision of students during the instructional day and at assigned school activities.
- Support the school's academic, extracurricular, and co-curricular programs as assigned.
- Maintain confidentiality of student and personnel information in accordance with applicable laws and policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or Superintendent.
