Position Summary The Full Time Middle School Math and Language Arts Teacher teaches students in Grades 6-8 , supporting learners from foundational skills through Algebra 1 and Geometry-level coursework. Students develop creative and rigorous problem-solving habits in both theoretical and real-world contexts; learn to communicate and critique mathematical reasoning; and collect, analyze, and interpret data. Equally important, we want every student to see themselves as a capable and confident mathematician. Additionally, this teacher will lead sixth grade students in a rich literature and writing curriculum that builds strong reading comprehension, literary analysis, written expression, grammar, vocabulary, and communication skills. Additional Responsibilities: Quarterly Elective Teacher, Advisory Leader Compensation Salary range: $78,000-$88,00 , commensurate with experience and qualifications Primary Responsibilities Middle School Math Plan and teach two middle school Math classes and Sixth Grade Literature and Writing daily, along with a middle school elective course Partner with the Middle School Lead Math Teacher and Language Arts teacher to plan lessons and support students Build and sustain a positive, inclusive classroom culture rooted in curiosity, effort, and perseverance Participate in the annual math placement assessment process and communicate results to students and families Sixth Grade Literature and Writing Collaborate with the seventh and eighth grade Language Arts teacher to plan engaging sixth grade literature and writing lessons aligned with school goals and student needs. Guide students in reading, discussing, and analyzing novels, short stories, poetry, essays, and other texts. Teach writing across genres, including narrative, expository, persuasive, analytical, and creative writing. Support students in the full writing process: brainstorming, drafting, revising, editing, and publishing. Provide clear instruction in grammar, mechanics, vocabulary, sentence structure, and organization. Foster thoughtful discussion, close reading, curiosity, and independent thinking.
