The district is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Social Studies Teacherfor a (.4) part-time high school position. The ideal candidate is passionate about fostering critical thinking, historical inquiry, and civic engagement in students while creating an inclusive and student-centered learning environment.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • NYS Certification in Social Studies (Grades 7-12)
  • Strong knowledge of the New York State Social Studies Framework and state assessments
  • Familiarity with the Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Education Framework
  • Proficiency in best practices for social studies instruction, including inquiry-based learning and student-driven discussions
  • Experience using learning management systems (LMS) and grading systems
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, administrators, and support staff
  • Commitment to student-centered instruction, differentiation, and fostering a supportive learning environment

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons that encourage historical analysis and critical thinking
  • Assess student learning using a variety of formative and summative methods, aligned with state assessments
  • Integrate technology and digital tools to enhance instruction and assessment
  • Create an inclusive classroom that values diverse perspectives and promotes civic engagement
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary connections and instructional strategies
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and the school community to support student success

Salary: As per the Teachers Association contract.

There is also the potential for a part-time permanent substitute position to complete the day.
