Position: High School Science Teacher (Anticipated)
Location: iSTEM
Position Overview
iSTEM is seeking a qualified, student-centered High School Science Teacher to join our team. We are looking for an educator who is passionate about science instruction and committed to helping students succeed in both Chemistry and Physics. The ideal candidate will create engaging, rigorous learning experiences that foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and scientific inquiry.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Student Learning
- Teach high school Chemistry and Physics courses aligned with Ohio Learning Standards
- Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans, laboratory activities, assessments, and instructional materials
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic needs, learning styles, and abilities of students
- Utilize hands-on, inquiry-based learning experiences to promote student engagement and scientific understanding
- Integrate instructional technology and innovative teaching strategies to enhance learning outcomes
- Assess student progress regularly and use data to inform instruction and support student achievement
Classroom Environment & Student Support
- Create and maintain a safe, organized, respectful, and positive classroom environment
- Establish clear classroom expectations and maintain effective classroom management practices
- Build positive relationships with students that encourage accountability, confidence, and academic growth
- Support students through individualized assistance, intervention strategies, and encouragement
- Promote student curiosity, collaboration, and critical thinking through engaging science instruction
- Ensure laboratory safety procedures and protocols are consistently followed
Collaboration & Professional Responsibilities
- Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and staff to support student achievement and school initiatives
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development opportunities, and school improvement efforts
- Support interdisciplinary collaboration and contribute positively to the school culture
- Maintain accurate student records, grades, attendance, and progress reports in a timely manner
- Remain current in best practices, curriculum standards, and instructional strategies in science education
Family & Community Communication
- Communicate effectively and professionally with students, families, and staff regarding academic progress and classroom expectations
- Foster positive partnerships with families to support student success and engagement
- Provide timely updates regarding student performance, assignments, and academic concerns
- Participate in parent conferences, school events, and family engagement opportunities as needed
Additional Responsibilities
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical conduct in all interactions
- Support and uphold the mission, values, and policies of the school district
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by administration
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching both Chemistry and Physics at the high school level
- Experience integrating technology into instruction
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and families
