Summer school teachers must be properly certified in the appropriate content area. Teachers in the summer school program will earn: Teacher, Nurse, Librarian, and Counselor: $6,120 stipend which includes all pay for teaching, planning, training, setting up rooms, and Open Houses. Summer School sessions for grades 9-12 will begin as follows: Monday through Thursday for 14 days. Wednesday, June 3rd - Thursday June 25th 7:15am - 4:25pm Class Period 1: 7:15am - 11:35am Lunch: 11:35am - 12:05pm Class Period 2: 12:05pm - 4:25pm Summer employment is contingent upon enrollment. ___________________________________________________ Valid Missouri Educator Certificate in Instrumental Music (K-12) Essential Responsibilities Supervisory Responsibilities Supervise and provide direction to assistant band staff, instructional aides, percussion instructors, color guard staff, and/or volunteers assigned to the summer enrichment program. Oversee student behavior, safety, and accountability during rehearsals, performances, and program activities. Collaborate with summer school administration regarding staffing needs, scheduling, and program operations. Instruction and Ensemble Leadership Plan and deliver engaging summer enrichment activities for instrumental music students in grades 6-12. Rehearse and conduct concert band, jazz ensemble, and other instrumental groups as assigned. Provide instruction in music fundamentals, performance techniques, and ensemble skills. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of varying student skill levels and musical backgrounds. Student Engagement and Learning Create a positive, inclusive, and motivating classroom environment. Encourage student participation, creativity, teamwork, and confidence through music performance experiences. Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback to support growth. Program Operations Assist with organizing rehearsals, performances, and enrichment activities. Maintain proper care and inventory of instruments, music, and instructional materials. Follow district procedures regarding attendance, student supervision, and safety protocols. Communication and Collaboration Maintain professional communication with students, families, administrators, and summer school staff. Collaborate with other enrichment instructors and school personnel to support a successful summer program. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Music Education, Music, or a related field from an accredited institution. Valid Missouri Educator Certificate in Instrumental Music (K-12), or eligibility to obtain certification. Successful completion of Missouri State Highway Patrol and FBI fingerprint background checks. Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching middle school and/or high school instrumental music programs. Experience directing concert band, jazz ensemble, marching band, or pep band activities. Strong classroom management and organizational skills. Knowledge of instrumental pedagogy and rehearsal techniques. Ability to build positive relationships with students and families. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods during rehearsals and instruction. Ability to lift and move instruments or music equipment as needed. Availability to participate in performances or enrichment events associated with the summer program.
