Special Education Teacher

ABOUT FALLS CITY: Falls City is a 10 minute commute from Dallas Oregon. Our students traditionally attend a four day instructional week which works out to about 147 school days. We use Fridays as professional learning, grading and other opportunities as needed up to 175 contracted days.

JOB TITLE: Elementary Special Education Teacher/K-2 Academic Support, 1.0 FTE

REPORTS TO: Building Principal and Special Services Director

CONTRACT DAYS: 10 Month Position

SALARY: To commensurate with degree and years of experience.

JOB SUMMARY: K-8th Academic Support Teachers are employed to provide specialized learning experiences to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities. In a supportive and positive learning environment, students receive specially designed instruction around their individual education plan goals and objectives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree or higher.

Hold or be eligible for Oregon Teaching Certification with special education endorsement.

Ability to establish positive relationships with students, staff, and parents from diverse cultures and backgrounds.

Must be able to pass a background check.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Prior successful experience teaching students with disabilities in a variety of settings.

Experience developing legally compliant Individual Education Plans.

Proficient in Trauma Informed Practices and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) strategies.

Proficient in the use of educational technology systems.

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Use multiple sources of information to develop a comprehensive understanding of students' strengths and needs.

Collaborate with school personnel and family members to systematically design specialized instruction for students with disabilities in identified areas of need.

Work in partnership with school personnel to provide instructional and developmental support for students with disabilities in a variety of settings.

Establish and maintain a consistent, organized, respectful and effective learning environment

Monitor student progress regularly and provide written reports of progress toward IEP goals to parents in accordance with the District's schedule.

Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, staff and families concerning students' progress towards their individual goals.

Serve as case manager for students eligible for special education and related services.

Instrumental in the development and conversations of RTI processes and implementations in interventions
