Employment Type: Full time, Interim/ Paternity leave position Start Date: September 2, 2026 - November 20, 2026 - This start date allows for overlap between teachers before the current teacher goes on leave. Job Summary: Paideia is an independent, progressive pre-K through 12 college-preparatory school in the Emory University area of Atlanta. The High School enrolls approximately 465 students. The curriculum consists of extensive offerings in English, social sciences, mathematics, foreign languages, natural and physical sciences, art, and music. Class size averages 15 students. Full-time High School teachers teach four classes. The science department offers a full range of courses including Biology I in 9th grade, Chemistry I in 10th grade and a variety of courses for 11th and 12th graders including Humans and the Environment, Forensics, Anatomy and Physiology, Marine Science, Neuropsychology, AP Physics 1, 2, C, AP Chemistry, AP Biology. Duties and Responsibilities: This position would include teaching 4 sections of 10th grade Chemistry. Faculty members are required to attend weekly faculty meetings, support student programming days and events, and a list of things that can come up in the day in the life of a teacher. Required Skills and Abilities: Important personal qualities include a love of learning, interest in and demonstrated ability to teach and support adolescents, an engaging teaching style, flexibility, organizational skill, energy, collegiality, and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues especially in teaching the 10th-grade Chemistry I course. Minimum Qualifications: We are looking for someone who has a chemistry and/or physical science background, practice with a variety of instruction methods, and a minimum of 3-5 years of teaching experience. While a college degree in a related field is required, a master's is preferred.
