TITLE: EBD Special Education Teacher
QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Kentucky Certificate with endorsements in teaching areas.
Such additional qualifications as the superintendent or Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

JOB GOALS: To provide each special education student in a particular unit with a program that will enable him to reach his fullest physical, emotional, psychological, and behavioral potential.

RESPONSIBILITIES SPECIFIC TO TEACHING AREA:
Implements individualized programs based on IEP's
Maintains appropriate system of record keeping in accordance with the law
Provides a basic core program for special education students consistent with state education code requirements
Coordinates and supervises work experience and in-school job training programs involving special education students
Works cooperatively with classroom teachers who have special education students in regular classesinterpreting the abilities and disabilities of these students to the entire staff and assisting the students with regular class assignments
Confers frequently with parents and professional staff members regarding the educational, social, and personal problems of such students
Assists other professional staff members in resolving the unique psychological or disciplinary problems of each student
Assists in screening, evaluating, and recommending placements of applicants in the school's special education program.
Counsels individuals and groups of special education students with educational, occupational and personal problems.
Assists students in making a realistic assessment of their abilities and in establishing educational and occupational goals in keeping with these abilities
Provides motivational work for students who have a short attention span
Performs such other professional tasks (within reason) as may be assigned by the superintendent or other supervisors
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be established by the superintendent and the Board.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.
