Duties
- Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
- Teach skills, knowledge, and scientific principles theory courses In the science classes assigned to teach, utilizing courses approved and adapted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities.
- Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided by the district.
- Prepare for classes assigned, and provide written evidence of preparation upon request of building principal.
- Establish and maintain a set of classroom rules and procedures that are consistent with the District policies and Board of Education approved Student Handbook.
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
- Implement instruction in accordance with the district's philosophy, mission statement and student goals.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Evaluate student progress on a regular basis.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
- Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policy
- Make provisions for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings.
- Cooperate with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
- Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
- Accepts a share of the responsibility for co-curricular activities as assigned.
- Work to establish and maintain open line of communication with students and their parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
- Establish and maintain a cooperative relationship with administration and principals.
- Provide for her/his own professional growth through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced course work at institutions of higher learning.
- Incorporate Common Core Standards into instruction of students.
- Prepare students for the State Testing Program in accordance to the District Educational Plan. 21 Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Applicant must have a valid Type 9 standard teaching certificate with a science endorsement. A Master's Degree in science or a science related field is preferred but not required.
