Position Overview
Mystic Valley Regional Charter School seeks a knowledgeable and intellectually dynamic Economics Teacher for grades 9-12 who possesses a deep understanding of free-market economic theory and the classical liberal tradition. The ideal candidate will be strongly influenced by the Austrian School of economics and well versed in the works of Ludwig von Mises, Friedrich Hayek, Walter Williams, and Thomas Sowell.
The successful applicant will inspire students to think critically about markets, individual liberty, entrepreneurship, constitutional government, incentives, monetary policy, and the role of institutions in a free society. Candidates should be capable of presenting economic ideas clearly, rigorously, and in a manner that encourages intellectual curiosity and civil discourse.
Responsibilities
Teach high school economics courses with an emphasis on:
Free-market economics
The Austrian School tradition
Economic history
The moral and philosophical foundations of economic liberty
Introduce students to primary-source economic texts and seminal works from major economic thinkers
Foster analytical thinking, debate, and evidence-based discussion in the classroom
Develop lesson plans, assessments, and instructional materials aligned with Massachusetts curriculum standards and the school's academic mission as well as International Baccalaureate standards.
Maintain high academic and behavioral expectations
Collaborate with faculty and administration to support student achievement and school culture
Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required;
- Demonstrated knowledge of Austrian economics and classical liberal economic thought
- Familiarity with the writings and ideas of Mises, Hayek, Walter Williams, and Thomas Sowell
- Strong writing, communication, and classroom management skills
- Ability to engage students in thoughtful discussion of economic and civic issues
- Commitment to academic excellence and content-rich instruction

Compensation
Salary range: $60,000-$90,000, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and educational background.
