ROLE AND PURPOSE:

The Teacher provides high-quality instruction that supports students' academic growth, critical thinking, and

engagement in learning. At CISD, this role ensures students receive rigorous, standards-aligned instruction and

meaningful learning experiences that prepare them for future academic and career opportunities. Teachers build

positive classroom environments, monitor student progress, and collaborate with colleagues to ensure every student

receives the support needed to succeed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree in education or a related field from an accredited institution
  • Valid Texas teaching certification required in the appropriate content or grade level area

Experience:

  • Strong knowledge of instructional best practices, curriculum standards, and classroom

management strategies

  • Ability to work effectively with diverse students, families, staff, and community partners
  • Strong instructional, communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

  • Ability to use student data and instructional technology tools to monitor progress and improve

student learning

  • Commitment to student growth, academic success, and equitable access to high-quality

instruction

  • Bilingual skills preferred

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

I. INSTRUCTIONAL PLANNING

  • Develop lesson plans aligned with state standards and district curriculum.
  • Use assessment data to inform instruction.
  • Design lessons that meet the needs of diverse learners.

II. INSTRUCTION

  • Deliver engaging instruction that promotes critical thinking and student participation.
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies to support student learning.
  • Provide opportunities for student discussion, writing, and problem-solving.

III. ASSESSMENT

  • Monitor student progress through formative and summative assessments.
  • Provide timely feedback to students.
  • Adjust instruction based on student performance data.

IV. CLASSROOM ENVIRONMENT

  • Establish a safe, respectful, and productive classroom environment.
  • Implement classroom management strategies that support learning.

V. PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with colleagues in professional learning communities.
  • Participate in professional development and school initiatives.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians.
