Position Overview

Role and Responsibilities
The Middle School World Language Teacher is responsible for designing and delivering high-quality instruction aligned with Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and district goals. This role includes assessing student progress, fostering a positive and inclusive classroom culture, and collaborating with colleagues and families to support student success.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement engaging, standards-aligned lessons with clear and measurable objectives.
- Establish and maintain a structured classroom environment with high academic and behavioral expectations.
- Build strong, respectful relationships with students and promote a positive classroom community.
- Deliver differentiated instruction that meets the diverse needs of learners and connects to prior knowledge and real-world relevance.
- Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and inform instruction.
- Collaborate with colleagues to analyze student data, plan interventions, and refine instructional practices.
- Support students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 Plans through collaboration with specialists and participation in team meetings.
- Communicate effectively and regularly with families regarding student progress.
- Engage in ongoing professional learning, reflect on instructional practices, and incorporate feedback to improve student outcomes.
- Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by the building principal in alignment with contractual agreements.
Qualifications
- Massachusetts teaching licensure in French and Spanish 5-12
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong understanding of the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and effective proficiency-based instructional practices
- Content expertise in French and Spanish
- Strong communication, organization, and planning skills
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, students, and families
- Proficiency in using technology for instruction and communication
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines

Work Environment and Physical Requirements
This position is based in a school setting and involves movement throughout classrooms and school spaces. Responsibilities include standing, walking, bending, and occasionally lifting up to 30 pounds.
