Job Description

SY 26-27 High School Science Instructor at TAPA: Trinity Academy for the Performing Arts | Providence, RI

TAPA: Trinity Academy for the Performing Arts, an academically rigorous public charter school for the arts, seeks a High School Science Instructor for the 2026-2027 school year. The ideal candidate values the connections between the sciences and the arts and brings a thoughtful, student-centered approach to interdisciplinary instruction.

TAPA's creative community is enriched by the cultural, religious, racial, ethnic, and linguistic diversity of our neurodiverse families, students, and employees. Demographically, nearly all members of the TAPA student body are people of color, predominantly Latinx, with many students speaking both English and Spanish in their homes. A significant portion of TAPA's student body identifies as members of the LGBTQ+ community. We aim to hire staff members who reflect the diversity of our students and who demonstrate an understanding of the strengths and experiences they bring.

The High School Science Instructor teaches five classes, each with approximately 18 students. TAPA is open to candidates with any secondary science certification, including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, General Science, or another applicable science certification. The instructor will also work directly with a smaller group of High School students to lead an Advisory. It is our hope that an Adviser stays with their advisory throughout the students' high school years at TAPA. Advisory provides an opportunity for social-emotional learning and support. The Advisor/Advisee relationship ensures that every student has a school-based advocate and a first-line connection to TAPA. Advisors and Advisees build strong relationships and bridges through empathy. This position is an incredible opportunity to join TAPA's tight-knit teaching corps.

At TAPA, Science is taught utilizing an arts-integrated curriculum aligned with the NGSS Standards. The arts are deeply embedded into the core of interdisciplinary learning. TAPA prepares students to successfully meet or exceed Rhode Island's graduation requirements and perform at (or above) grade level on all state and local assessments. TAPA meets each student's individual academic needs using assessment data and continuous feedback while providing clear academic, social, and artistic expectations.

At its core, TAPA is a student-centered, caring community that fosters leadership, intellect, self-confidence, and responsibility. Respect for diverse experiences and inclusive approaches to teaching and learning are foundational to our school culture. Candidates with backgrounds or experiences that contribute to this work are encouraged to apply.
