Position: Instructional Assistant
Reports to: Principal and Instructional Lead Teacher
Supervises: None
Qualifications:
Tier 1:
Bachelor's Degree required.
Tier 2:
High School diploma or GED required.
Satisfy Every Student Succeeds Act requirements by:
Completed at least 2 years of study (48 hrs.) at an institution of higher ed, or
Hold an associate's degree or higher, or
Obtained a National Career Readiness Certificate through successful completion of the ACT, WorkKeys Assessment, or passed the Paraprofessional Assessment Test - Passing Score is 455, or
Passed the Oklahoma General Education (OGET) Test.
Bilingual in English and other district prominent languages.
Continued Qualifications for Tier 1 and Tier 2:
Good interpersonal and communication skills with students and adults required.
Computer application skills required.
Satisfy all district requirements with regard to physical health and citizenship.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Position Goal: Assist certified staff in meeting individual student needs within a variety of instructional settings.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Reinforcements of math, english, reading, social studies, science and other subjects.
Works with individuals and small groups of students to reinforce or remediate learning materials and skills initially introduced by the teacher.
Assists in the supervision of students.
Checks notebooks, corrects papers, records attendance and grades, supervises testing and assessments, and maintains records as assigned by the teacher.
Serves as a source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher or may be assigned as the substitute teacher.
Maintains a level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of certified teachers.
Organizes, distributes, collects, and prepare materials, i.e. project materials, student manipulatives, etc.
Supervises students in a variety of instructional settings.
Collaborates with teachers in curricular areas.
Assists with a variety of instructional situations.
Assist with other assignments as may be designated by principal or lead teacher.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Employment Terms: Nine (9) month classified hourly contract
