Job Description

Canton High School is seeking an exceptional and dynamic candidate to join our learning community as a Mathematics teacher for the first semester of the 26-27 school year. The selected candidate will join a vibrant and supportive team that places a high priority on collaboration, creativity, flexibility, and commitment to the goals of the District and to our students, families, and staff.

Our mathematics department offers integrated pathways as well as traditional high school math courses in the College Preparatory, Honors/Accelerated, and Advanced Placement levels.

The tentative assignment for this position includes: Algebra II, Financial Literacy, and Geometry.

JOB SUMMARY

Canton High School educators provide well-organized, enriching learning environments in which students can access Massachusetts standards-based curriculum and develop social and emotional skills in a safe and supportive educational environment.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to):

Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional practices that facilitate active learning experiences

Develop lesson plans that align with the state standards

Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities

Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities

Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students' varying needs

Use relevant instructional technology to support a variety of learning styles

Observe and evaluate students' performance and development

Assign and grade assignments and assessments through a variety of methods

Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students

Maintain accurate and complete records of student progress and development

Manage student behavior in the classroom and throughout the school community

Participate in department and school/staff meetings and professional development sessions

Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and needs

Keep up to date with advancements in subject area curriculum, teaching resources, and instructional practices, and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities

Effectively teach various courses and levels

QUALIFICATIONS:

Valid Massachusetts DESE teacher certification that is appropriate for the grade level and subject area assigned. (Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university.)

Highly Qualified as per Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE)

Proven ability to relate to a variety of constituencies, including but not limited to administrators, parents/guardians, teachers, students, other school staff

Outstanding written and verbal communication skills

Well-organized with strong leadership abilities

Exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills

Familiarity with Google Suite and other instructional technology platforms

Other reasonable responsibilities as determined by the department coordinator and/or building administrators

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

SUPERVISES: Not Applicable

COMPENSATION: $342.38/day
