Position: Native American Education Instructional Assistant
Reports to: Principal and Native American Education Coordinator
Supervises: None
Qualifications:
Tier 1:
Bachelor's Degree required.
Tier 2:
High School diploma or GED required.
Satisfy Every Student Succeeds Act requirements by:
Completed at least 2 years of study (48 hrs.) at an institution of higher ed, or
Hold an associate's degree or higher, or
Obtained a National Career Readiness Certificate through successful completion of the ACT, WorkKeys Assessment, or passed the Paraprofessional Assessment Test - Passing Score is 455, or
Passed the Oklahoma General Education (OGET) Test.
Continued Qualifications for Tier 1 and Tier 2:
Good interpersonal and communication skills with students and adults required.
Computer application skills required.
Satisfy all district requirements with regard to physical health and citizenship.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Position Goal: Reinforce core subject instruction for Native American Education students within a variety of instructional settings.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Reinforcements of math, english, reading, social studies, science and other subjects.
Works with Native American Education students to reinforce or remediate learning materials and skills initially introduced by the teacher.
Assists in the supervision of Native American Education students.
Maintains a level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of certified teachers.
Organizes, distributes, collects, and prepares materials, i.e. project materials, student manipulatives, etc.
Collaborates with teachers in curricular areas.
Assists with a variety of instructional situations.
Sends monthly reports to the Native American Education Coordinator.
Helps with Native American Education related cultural activites for school site and/or community.
Follows Native American Education policy as established in the Native American Education Program & Precedures Handbook.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Employment Terms: Nine (9) month classified hourly contract
FLSA Qualification: Non-Exempt
