Position Overview:

New Castle High School is seeking a dynamic and dedicated High School Science Teacher to join our instructional team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong content knowledge in science, a passion for engaging students in scientific inquiry, and a commitment to fostering a rigorous and supportive learning environment that prepares students for college and career readiness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality instruction aligned with Indiana Academic Standards in one or more science disciplines (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science).
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, laboratory experiences, and technology to support diverse learners and promote critical thinking.
  • Create a structured, safe, and engaging classroom environment that fosters student curiosity, collaboration, and scientific literacy.
  • Develop and implement both formative and summative assessments; analyze data to guide instruction and improve student outcomes.
  • Incorporate real-world applications and interdisciplinary connections to enhance student learning and relevance.
  • Collaborate with department members and staff to ensure alignment of curriculum, assessments, and instructional practices.
  • Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain timely and effective communication with students, parents/guardians, and staff regarding student progress and expectations.
  • Uphold school policies and contribute positively to the culture and mission of New Castle High School.

Requirements:

  • Must hold or be eligible for a valid Indiana teaching license.
  • Certification in Secondary Science (Grades 5-12) in an appropriate content area.
