POSITION:Ch. 74 Carpentry Teacher for Construction Technology Program

JOB DESCRIPTION:Provide student-centered, differentiated lessons, units, and projects that align with the MA CTE Carpentry FrameworksEmploy various instructional techniques to engage all learnersCreate a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the studentsGuide the learning process toward the achievement of established district curriculum goals, establish and communicate clear objectives to students for lessons, units, labs, and projectsMaintain timely record keeping via PowerSchool (student information and grading system) and electronic student competency trackingMaintain up-to-date files, including student recordsMaintain classroom management through an understanding and adherence to accepted school policiesProvide assistance to students serving make-up or detentionParticipate in district professional development activities and school improvement initiativesParticipate collaboratively in the development of curriculum, instructional strategies, and assessmentProvide after school assistance to students per contract and as neededPerform other duties as assigned in accordance with the Collective Bargaining AgreementFoster competition and achievement by supporting SkillsUSA activitiesOther duties as assigned by the Vocational Director

COMPENSATION:In accordance with the BHEA Contract - $66,019.43 to $119,127.78

QUALIFICATIONS:Possession of a high school diploma or GED equivalentFive years of full-time employment experience directly related to CarpentryPossession of a Massachusetts Construction Supervisor LicenseMassachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) Chapter 74 license or licensable in CarpentryHouse building skills required, including reading blueprints, framing floors, walls, stairs, roofs, concrete forms, and cabinet constructionCompetence in curriculum and instruction as it relates to DESE Frameworks for CarpentryAbility to maintain student discipline, differentiate instruction, and work with diverse populationsPossess teaching experience or demonstrable teaching abilityDemonstration of initiative and willingness to participate in further study as necessaryAbility to effectively communicate with students, teachers, and administratorsWillingness to foster strong relationships with students and teachersPunctuality, flexibility, strong self-management, and self-initiative skillsUnderstanding of vocational practices, procedures, expectations, and the instructional practices that will facilitate students' proficiency in their technical area
