The Social Studies Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, standards-based instruction aligned with the Arkansas Department of Education curriculum frameworks. The teacher fosters critical thinking, civic responsibility, and historical understanding while creating a positive and inclusive learning environment for students.Key ResponsibilitiesInstruction & CurriculumPlan and deliver lessons aligned with Arkansas Social Studies Standards (e.g., civics, U.S. history, world history, geography, economics)Develop instructional materials that promote inquiry, discussion, and analysisIntegrate primary and secondary sources to enhance historical understandingUse technology and multimedia tools to support learningClassroom ManagementEstablish and maintain a structured, respectful classroom environmentImplement effective behavior management strategiesPromote student engagement and participationAssessment & EvaluationDesign and administer formative and summative assessmentsMonitor student progress and adjust instruction accordinglyMaintain accurate records of grades and attendanceStudent SupportIdentify and support diverse learning needs, including special education and gifted studentsCommunicate regularly with parents/guardians about student progressEncourage civic engagement and critical thinking skillsProfessional ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with colleagues, administrators, and staffParticipate in professional development aligned with state requirementsStay current with best practices in social studies education and pedagogy
