We are looking for a forward-thinking Special Education Teacher & Case Manager who is passionate about preparing young adults for life beyond high school. In this role, you aren't just a teacher; you are a transition specialist and an advocate. You will balance specialized academic instruction with the management of legal compliance, focusing on helping students achieve their post-secondary goalswhether that's college, vocational training, or independent living.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Instruction & Academic Support

* Specialized Instruction: Teach in a resource room setting in core content areas (English, Math,Transition Skills, Executive Functioning, etc.).

* Self-Advocacy Coaching: Empower students to understand their own disabilities and learn how to request accommodations in real-world settings.

* Credit Tracking: Monitor student progress toward graduation requirements and modify curriculum as dictated by IEPs without compromising academic integrity.

2. Case Management & Transition Planning

* Transition Services: Develop robust Transition Plans for students aged 14+ (or state-specific age), focusing on post-secondary education, employment, and independent living.

* IEP Compliance: Lead the development of annual IEPs and triennial re-evaluations, ensuring all documentation meets federal and state IDEA standards.

* Inter-Agency Collaboration: Coordinate with outside agencies (e.g., Vocational Rehab, Department of Developmental Services) to ensure a "warm handoff" after graduation.

* Advocacy & Leadership: Serve as the bridge between general education teachers, parents, and administration to ensure all accommodations are implemented with fidelity in a departmentalized high school setting.

Qualifications & Requirements

* Education: Bachelor's Degree in Special Education (Master's in SPED or Transition Services preferred).

* Certification: Valid [State] Professional Educator License (PEL) with High School Special Education Endorsement (Secondary).
