Position Description

POSITION TITLE: High School Special Education Structured Learning Classroom Paraprofessional

FLSA: Exempt

REPORTS TO: Principal and/or other Supervisor

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 185 day contract

QUALIFICATIONS: 60 hours of verified college credit or successful completion of the Paraprofessional Praxis.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Attend training as required by the district
2. Work under the direction of the Structured Learning Classroom Teacher
3. Communicates with supervising instructional staff, and a variety of health care professionals, and professional support personnel for the purpose of communicating progress and/or implementing IEP objectives.
4. Provide personal care to students
5. Accompany students to and from school activities, indoor and outdoor, and participate in activities as directed.
6. Supervises individual and/or groups of students in a variety of settings for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
7. Possess the ability to stoop, kneel, lift/move up to 50 pounds
8. Assist students up/down steps and stairs and in/out of vehicles
9. Possess the ability to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods of time
10. Maintain student confidentiality
