POSITION TITLE: Teacher

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid State of Ohio Teaching License
  • Bachelor's degree in teaching or relevant field
  • In-depth knowledge of teaching methods and legal educational procedures
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Effective interpersonal and presentation skills

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Pay and benefits provided according to the Teacher's Negotiated Agreement.

JOB GOAL: Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students and by creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Participate in curriculum review and design.
  • Implement approved district curriculum.
  • Implement a variety of effective instructional strategies consistent with lesson objectives
  • Diagnose and evaluates student abilities and progress in a timely and consistent manner.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
  • Deliver personalized instruction to each student by encouraging interactive learning.
  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
  • Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis, provide feedback and progress reports as required.
  • Refer students for alternative services as provided by the District.
  • Communicate with parents. Respond to parent questions, promptly return phone calls and answer emails.
  • Attend parent-teacher conferences.
  • Effectively implement district initiatives.
  • Effectively collaborate with department and grade level teachers.
  • Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations.
  • Attend meetings and performs duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.
  • Ensure the safety of students by maintaining a safe learning environment.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
  • Remain current on instructional practices in education. (e.g. instructional technology)

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Serve on committees as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned by building principal.
