We are seeking dedicated and compassionate NYS Certified Special Education Teachers to join our STRIVE program within CiTi BOCES. This position involves teaching elementary students with diverse learning needs. The ideal candidates will have a strong commitment to inclusive education and the ability to provide individualized instruction and support to help students achieve their academic and social goals. Key Responsibilities: Instructional Duties: Develop and implement individualized lesson plans that align with the New York State Learning Standards and IEP goals. Provide differentiated instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of elementary students. Utilize evidence-based teaching strategies and interventions to support student learning and engagement. Assess student progress regularly and adjust teaching methods to ensure academic success. Prepare students for state assessments and other academic milestones. Support and Collaboration: Work collaboratively with special education staff, therapists, and other educators to create a supportive learning environment. Participate in CSE meetings and contribute to the development of individualized education plans. Communicate effectively with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress and address any concerns. Foster a positive and inclusive classroom culture that promotes social and emotional development. Professional Development: Stay current with best practices in special education and attend relevant professional development workshops and training sessions. Engage in continuous learning to enhance instructional skills and knowledge of special education strategies.
Qualifications:
NYS Special Education Teaching Certification.
Bachelor s degree in special education or related field (Master's preferred).
Experience teaching elementary students with diverse learning needs.
Strong understanding of differentiated instruction and inclusive education practices.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and families.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with IEP development and implementation.
Familiarity with assistive technology and adaptive learning tools.
Ability to create a supportive and engaging classroom environment.
Knowledge of behavioral intervention strategies.
