DUTIES & QUALIFICATIONSApplicants must hold or qualify for an Oregon Teaching Certificate, with subject area endorsement and grade level authorization.Desire and ability to work with a team of professional educators in a small/rural school.Familiarity with a variety of age-appropriate instructional, assessment and classroom management strategies that reflect current research on best practices.Familiarity with state standards and curriculum frameworks.Effective oral and written communication skills.Ability to exhibit professionalism and effective human relations.Ability to effectively manage and supervise students and their work.Ability to direct the work of other staff members.Ability to develop lessons that prepare students for academic and social success.Standard First Aid certification, or the ability to obtain certification within two months of hire, may be required.A positive role model for the school/community.Maintain safe and secure environments for faculty, staff and students to participate in athletic programs and for spectators and other public to attend events.Assume responsibility for the interpretation and implementation by coaches of all board policies, school rules and procedures, codes of conduct, applicable laws, safety expectations, and athletic handbook.Observe safety and security procedures: report potentially unsafe conditions.Promote school safety. Supervise home athletic contests. Supervise away games as needed. Act as host to officials and visiting teams. Oversee employees and volunteers who work at the contest.Coordinates coaching staff.Oversee and supervise the coaches in the cleaning, storage, and maintenance of all athletic equipment and uniforms, including the maintenance of updated inventories (including but not limited to safety recertification of football helmets and other PPE for teams).Constructs the district annual budget as it relates to athletics.Evaluates athletic programs to assure a consistent and meaningful sequence of instruction and a well-balanced involvement of all interested students.Develops and maintains schedules for all athletics.Develops and maintains eligibility file for all high school athletes.Work with coaching staff and transportation supervisor to schedule transportation for all away contests.Secure game workers for athletic contests, chain crews, announcers, clock operators, score keepers, line judges, etc.Oversees and maintains an updated inventory of all equipment and supplies related to athletics.Ensures the proper form(s) (insurance, attendance, medical) are obtained and current for participants.Works cooperatively with facilities manager and administrators to maintain all fields and facilities.Serves as the liaison between district, the news media and patrons regarding athletic events.After work hours are routine and expected.
