Job Title: Social Worker Company: IDEA Public Charter School Location: Washington, DC Description: IDEA Public Charter School is seeking a licensed Social Worker. The Social Worker provides support services to students, staff and parents. Support services include referrals, counseling, assessment, diagnostics, and report writing. This work takes place at the school site, in other public buildings and in private residences. IDEA currently serves approximately 450 students in grades 7 - 12. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Completes assessments, referrals, and counseling with students and families. Consults with other professional staff, outside agencies and other organziations. Completes assessments of home and family situation. Serves as a member of the school-based team to - Counsels students and/or families individually, or in groups. Supports the school's efforts in creating a strong culture of achievement and respect. Supports the school in creating, implementing and monitoring discipline systems. Provides professional development as needed EXAMPLES of WORK: Completes written reports of all cases and meetings. Interviews students and families. Make oral presentations of assessments, diagnostics, home visits, and observations. Completes other reports as may be required by federal, state, or local agencies, laws, and regulations. Attend pre-referral/Early Intervention Team and IEP meetings, as needed
